Vancouver Island Wolf

The Vancouver Island Wolf is a subspecies of the Gray Wolf. this It is native to Vancouver Island, British Columbia. These are shy wolves. They live in packs with from 5 to 20 individuals. Vancouver Island Wolves are blamed for the decline of the Vancouver Island marmot as well as attacks on domestic dogs. They inhabitforested and semi-forested areas. They also live on the uninhabited northern coastal portions of the island as well as the west coast. Around 150 individuals now inhabit the island but are endangered due to hunting, habitat loss and loss of genetic diversity. Cross breeding with domestic dogs have been observed.
